Well, I woke up this mo'nin'
With ramblin' on my mind
Well, I woke up this mo'nin'
With ramblin' on my mind
Well, my babe had quit me
An I couldn't hardly keep from cryin'
She brought me up north
When I was just out of school
She brought me up north
When I was just out of school
Since she got me up north
She tried to play me for a fool
When a woman says she love you
Man, don't pay that no mind
When a woman said she loves you
Man, don't pay that no mind
She'll have you out of yo home
Just like I'm outta mine
(guitar, piano & bass)
When you see me leave you
Hang crepe on your door
When you see me leavin'
Hang crepe on your door
Well, I won't be dead
But I ain't comin' here no more.

Big Maceo (real name Maceo Merriweather) was an American bluesman active in the 1940s and 1950s. Hailing from Mississippi, he made a significant mark on the genre with his powerful vocal style and energetic piano performances. His music was characterized by a blend of traditional blues and boogie-woogie, influenced by the musical scene of the Mississippi Delta. Among his most notable songs are "Worried Life Blues", "Big City Blues" and "Flying Boogie". Despite his short career, Big Maceo is considered one of the pioneers of boogie-woogie and contributed to spreading this genre of music throughout the country.

My favorite group when I was just a teenager were the Fugees, thanks to them a certain curiosity about english language was born in me. I wanted to know and understand the lyrics of their songs, it wasn't enough for me to be carried away exclusively by their beautiful music.
