Clan of Xymox is a darkwave/gothic rock band founded in Nijmegen, Netherlands, in 1983 by Ronny Moorings, Anke Wolbert, and Pieter Nooten. Of the original members, only Ronny Moorings remains in the band today. The group's name has often been shortened to Xymox during its career. Clan of Xymox's sound is characterized by dark and melancholic atmospheres, influenced by 1980s synth-pop and experimental electronic music. Some of their most representative tracks include "Obscured by Clouds", "Stranger" and "Louise". Their debut album, "Medusa", released in 1985, is considered a classic of the darkwave genre.
