Eric Lynn Wright, better known as Eazy-E, was an American rapper and record producer considered one of the pioneers of gangsta rap. Born in Compton, California, in 1964, Eazy-E founded the group N.W.A (Niggaz Wit Attitudes) in 1986 with Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella. The group quickly became famous for its songs that described the hard and violent life of the Compton community, addressing themes such as police brutality, racism and poverty. Among the most representative tracks of N.W.A are «Fuck tha Police», «Straight Outta Compton» and «Express Yourself». Eazy-E distinguished himself for his aggressive flow and sharp rhymes, becoming an icon of hip hop culture in the 1990s. In 1987 he founded Ruthless Records, which became one of the leading record labels in rap. Despite his success, Eazy-E died in 1995 from an AIDS infection, leaving a lasting legacy in hip hop music.
