We hear you crying
So bitterly
Trying to get people to help you ye ye
But nobody will
Your son was brutalizing people everytime.
But you said nothing
Now it's the time to pay the price
It's time to pay ye ye ye ye
Chorus:
You gonna reap just what you sow (x4)
Coming back home
With stolen things
Instead of telling him
How wrong he was
You told him how clever he was
People coming out of burning houses
It's your son Driving stolen cars every time
It's your son,
But you said nothing
But now he's turning against you
Chorus:
You gonna reap just what you sow (x3)
Everybody knows
No jail can keep him
'Cause you rubbing shoulders with the law
But now it's time to pay the price wo... woh
Chorus till fade
Lucky Philip Dube (1964-2007), known simply as Lucky Dube, was a legendary South African singer and musician of international fame. Born into a poor family in the KwaZulu-Natal province, Dube began his musical career in the 1980s with reggae music, blending social and political themes with rhythmic and engaging melodies. His music became a powerful tool for denouncing apartheid and promoting peace and social justice in South Africa. Dube released over 20 albums during his career, selling millions of copies worldwide. Some of his most famous songs include "Slave", "Prisoner", "Remember", and "Taxman". His music transcended national borders, reaching an international audience and contributing to the spread of reggae culture on a global scale. Sadly, Dube was murdered in 2007 during a robbery attempt, leaving an unfillable void in the African music scene. His legacy continues to inspire generations of musicians and activists for social justice.
