You'll wonder should you risk it
A pocket full of mischief
An idiotic rain dance
Relying on a romance
Another frame beginning
Nows the time for singing a-ha!
Prayer has conceded
Successfully succeeded

Howling at the moonshine
Barking up the wrong tree
A sacrificial slaughter
Took you from the altar

Have no fear of laughter
Wait for what comes after
Excusing no excuses
The hangman and his nooses
Busy executing
The bloody and blaspheming

The Spanish inquisition
No one above suspicion
Crying out for reason
Might as well be treason

Have no fear of laughter
Wait for what comes after
It's you they're looking out for
It's you they're coming after
Innocent not guilty

Public Image Ltd. (PIL), short for Public Image Limited, is a British musical group formed in London in 1978 by singer and frontman John Lydon, better known as Johnny Rotten for his time with the Sex Pistols. After the dissolution of the Pistols, Lydon decided to form PIL with the aim of exploring new musical territories, abandoning punk rage in favor of a more experimental and introspective sound. PIL has gone through several stylistic phases throughout its career, moving from aggressive post-punk to electronic rhythms, influenced by reggae and dub sounds. Among the band's most representative songs are "Rise", "This Is Not a Love Song" and "Public Image". The self-titled debut album (1978) is considered a classic of post-punk, while "Metal Box" (1979) is an even more experimental and innovative work. PIL has had a significant impact on alternative music of the 1980s and continues to be a cult band for its fans.
