Ta dernière note vibre encore
Et le matin jaunit
Change encore de décor
Ton sax désossé
Au rancart de la mort
Pousse un dernier soleil
Vers le sang du dehors
A force de chercher
Une vie essentielle
A force de souffler
Les bougies du réel
A force de tourner
Les cartes du possible
Le printemps a givré
Ta musique invisible
Où joues-tu maintenantà
Dans quel nuage rauque
Envoies-tu tes chorus
Un peu rauque, un peu doux
Dans quelle cave lointaine
Parleras-tu d'amour
Jusqu'au lever du jour
Je n'y crois pas encore
C'est une fugue un rien
T'es parti comme on sort
Tu vas téléphoner
avec ta voix qui traîne
Demander des nouvelles
Des petits du poème
Qu'on écrivait ensemble
Dans nos nuits électriques
Tu es parti tout seul
Tu as coulé à pic
Et dans ta veine bleue
Cette aiguille glacée
Fait fleurir du dollar
Chez des dealers planqués
Je vais gueuler plus fort
Je vais gueuler encore
Que je hais ce bourrin
Ce plastique et ce fer
Ce voyage truqué
Ce remède de misère
Qui s'en va vers la mort
Papillons bleus et noirs
Découpés au couteau
Tournant dans les miroirs
Dévorant les photos
Et mitant ma mémoire
Emportée par le vent
Glacé du désespoir
Je te fais ce cadeau
A l'écriture fragile
Sur cette musique triste
Et belle du Brésil
Avec la voix cassée
Dérisoire inutile
Qui ne réchauffe plus
Ton cœur entre tes cils
T'es parti une fois de trop
C'est difficile
Et tout sera classé
Au fond d'un fait divers
On dit que c'est fini
Que c'est déjà hier
Et on sort prendre l'air
Bernard Lavilliers is a French singer-songwriter born in Saint-Étienne in 1946. Coming from a modest family, he developed a passion for music at the age of four. After working in a factory, he joined the Communist Party to defend his ideals and in 1965 left for Brazil, an experience that deeply marked his worldview. His return to France led him to be considered a draft dodger and imprisoned for a year. He began singing in cabarets and in 1967 released his first single. In 1968 he released his first album, simply titled "Lavilliers", which later became his stage name. Throughout the 1970s, he achieved success with albums such as "Les poètes" (1972), "Le Stéphanois" (1975) and especially "Les Barbares" (1976). The latter consecrated him as one of the most important French singer-songwriters. Lavilliers is known for his songs that often deal with social, political and travel themes. Among his most representative tracks are "Le Grand Bleu", "La Ballade de la rue des Amants" and "Les Barbares". In 1992 he sang alongside Léo Ferré at the fête de l'Humanité. In 2004 he released the album "Carnets de bord", an ode to travel, and in 2005 the book 'Bernard Lavilliers, Escales' by Gert-Peter Bruch was published.

My favorite group when I was just a teenager were the Fugees, thanks to them a certain curiosity about english language was born in me. I wanted to know and understand the lyrics of their songs, it wasn't enough for me to be carried away exclusively by their beautiful music.
