Grupo Niche is a Colombian salsa group founded in Bogotá in 1978 by Jairo Varela and Alexis Lozano. Currently based in Cali, they enjoy great popularity throughout Latin America. Jairo Varela remained with the group, becoming producer, director, songwriter, vocalist, and guiro player. Alexis Lozano, trumpeter, later left to form Orquesta Guayacan. Other founding members included Nicolas Cristanelo on piano; Francisco Garcia on bass; Luis Pacheco on congas; as well as vocalists Jorge Bassam and Hector Viveros. The group is known for its energetic and infectious music, characterized by complex arrangements and a driving rhythm. Among their most famous songs are 'Cali Pachanguero', 'El Baile del Gorila' and 'La Fiesta'.
