Klaatu is a Canadian progressive rock group formed in 1973 by John Woloschuk and Dee Long. The band's name comes from the extraterrestrial character portrayed by Michael Rennie in the film *The Day the Earth Stood Still*. After releasing singles "Hanus Of Uranus/Sub-Rosa Subway" and "Dr. Marvello/For You Girl" on GRT Records, Klaatu was signed to Daffodil Records and its president Frank Davies.
