Sacramentum was a Swedish black metal band from Falköping, formed by Nisse Karlen (vocals/guitar) in the summer of 1990 under the name Tumulus. Shortly thereafter, Anders Brolycke joined as a second guitarist. The band changed their name to Sacramentum in 1992 and released several demos before signing with Black Mark Records in 1996. Their debut album, *The Serpent's Chalice*, was well-received by critics and helped solidify their place in the European black metal underground. Sacramentum was active until 2003, releasing two more studio albums: *Promo 1994* (1994) and *The Shadow of the Cross* (1998). Their musical style was characterized by dark and melancholic atmospheres, with influences from doom metal and avant-garde. Some of their most representative tracks include "The Serpent's Chalice", "In The Shadow of the Cross" and "Promo 1994".
