Marc Alan Johnson is an American bassist, composer, and bandleader born in Chicago in 1958. Johnson began playing the bass at the age of seven and graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 1980. Johnson is known for his modern jazz style that combines elements of bebop, fusion, and free jazz.
