The Tubes are an American rock band formed in San Francisco, California, in 1972. Their sound, characterized by a mix of hard rock, glam rock and theatrical elements, made them a cult band in the 1970s and 1980s. Their self-titled debut album in 1975 included the single "White Punks on Dope", which became an underground hit. In 1983 they achieved mainstream success with the single "She's a Beauty", which entered the top 10 in America and was one of the first music videos frequently aired on MTV. The band also participated in the 1980 film "Xanadu", singing the rock part of the song "Dancin'". Among their most important albums are "The Tubes" (1975), "What Do You Want From Live" (1976) and "Remote Control" (1983).
