Primordial è una band irlandese di black metal con influenze folk e celtiche, formatasi a Skerries, nella Contea di Fingal, nel 1987. Considerati uno dei gruppi più importanti del genere black metal europeo, Primordial hanno costruito un sound unico che fonde l'intensità del black metal con melodie irlandesi tradizionali e testi spesso ispirati alla mitologia e alla storia irlandese. Il loro percorso musicale è segnato da una costante evoluzione sonora, passando da sonorità più grezze e primitive ai primi album a un sound più maturo e complesso negli anni successivi. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "The Gathering Fields", "As Rome Burns" e "Empire Falls".
