så brummede den truende og tog et skridt frem
han havde ingen våben kun en strengeleg
han sagde: Søde lille bjørn, hva' kan jeg gøre for dig?

de listede på tå til bjørnegraven hen

Dér dansede en bjørn med en mand i sin favn
han råbte frels mig for satan i gudernes navn!
De skød det store dyr og fik spillemanden op
nu stod han der med strengeleg og sønderrevet krop
jeg troede jeg sku' dø og nu ligger dyret der
