Tristania was a Norwegian gothic metal band active from 1996 to 2022. Founded by Morten Veland, Einar Moen and Kenneth Ølsson, the group achieved considerable international success thanks to their sound characterized by dark atmospheres and symphonic melodies, with influences from doom metal and opera. Their musical style evolved over the years, moving from heavier sounds to a more melodically oriented approach. Among their most representative songs are "Midnattstemme", "The Waking Hour" and "Gothic Romance". The debut album "Widow's Peak" (1998) marked the beginning of their career, followed by other works such as "Beyond the Veil" (2001) and "Illumination" (2007). Tristania disbanded in September 2022 after a long and prolific career.
