Eddie Cochran (Edward Raymond Cochran; October 15, 1938 – April 17, 1960) was an American singer and songwriter considered one of the pioneers of rockabilly. His music, characterized by fast tempos, incisive guitar riffs, and energetic lyrics, had a profound influence on pop music in the 1950s and 1960s. Cochran was born in Albertville, Alabama, but moved to California as a child. He began his musical career playing in Los Angeles clubs before signing with Liberty Records in 1957. His first success was "Summertime Blues", a song that became a rockabilly classic and reached number one on the US charts. Other hits include "C'mon Everybody", "Twenty Flight Rock", and "Somethin' Else". Cochran collaborated with artists like Gene Vincent and Jerry Lee Lewis, contributing to defining the aesthetics and style of rockabilly. His career was tragically cut short in a car accident in 1960 at the age of 21. Despite the brevity of his career, Eddie Cochran is considered a fundamental figure in the history of rock and roll.
