Generation X was an English punk rock band formed on November 21, 1976 in London by Billy Idol (vocals), Tony James (bass) and John Towe (guitar). The lineup was completed with Bob Andrews on drums. The band achieved moderate success throughout the 1980s, influencing the new wave movement and contributing to defining the British punk rock sound.
