Serj Tankian is an Armenian-American singer, musician, and record producer, best known as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter for the American metal band System of a Down. Born in Armenia in 1967 to Armenian parents who emigrated to the United States, Tankian began his musical career playing piano and singing in church choirs.
