William John Clifton Haley, better known as Bill Haley (Detroit, July 5, 1925 – London, February 9, 1981), was an American singer, musician, and actor considered one of the pioneers of rock and roll. Founder of the band Bill Haley and His Comets, he brought the genre to worldwide popularity in the 1950s. His energetic style, based on blues, country, and rhythm and blues, influenced generations of musicians. Haley's most famous song is «Rock Around the Clock», released in 1954 and becoming a rock and roll anthem. The song topped the American and British charts, contributing to defining the image of youth culture at the time.
