Melissa Etheridge is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist born in Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1961. Considered an icon for the LGBTQ+ community, Etheridge has gained international fame for her powerful rock sound and introspective songs that address themes of love, loss, and identity.
