Where are we first and last
Bound together in our past
Much too cruel and much too fast
And much too quick to anger
I suppose
Years ago years ago
I might have known
I suppose
Years ago
Traps laid bare in my face
Set to keep me in my place
Say goodbye to the child
And life it seems is colder
I suppose
Years ago years ago
I might have known
I suppose
Years ago
No.
(But what are you saying?)
Please leave my mind intact
(But what do you mean?)
As I slowly grow older
Where are we each and all
Creatures run and creatures crawl
Where are we each and all
Creatures run and creatures crawl
Where are we each and all
Creatures run and creatures crawl
Spinning here on this ball
Creatures run and creatures crawl
I suppose
Years ago
Years ago
I might have known
I suppose
Years ago years ago
I might have known
As I slowly grow older
The Chameleons, also known as The Chameleons UK in some publications, are a post-punk band formed in Middleton, Greater Manchester, England, in 1981. The group consists of Mark Burgess (vocals, guitar), John Lever (guitar), Reggenza (bass) and Stuart Goetzman (drums). The Chameleons gained popularity in the 1980s with a sound characterized by dark atmospheres, introspective melodies and poetic lyrics. Among their most notable songs are "Tears", "Swamp Thing" and "Script of the Bridge". Their debut album "Script of the Bridge" (1983) is considered a classic of British post-punk. The band disbanded in 1987 but reunited in 2000. The Chameleons have influenced numerous alternative and indie bands of the 1990s and 2000s.
