The Mission, known as The Mission UK in the United States, were a gothic rock band formed in 1986 from the splinters of the freshly-dissolved rock band The Sisters of Mercy. The original lineup included Wayne Hussey (vocals), Simon Hinkler (guitar), Craig Adams (bass) and Mick Brown (drums). Their sound, characterized by dark melodies and gloomy atmospheres, quickly gained a loyal following in the goth music scene. Among their most representative songs are "Wasteland", "Severed Ties" and "Tower of Strength". After a series of successful albums, including their self-titled debut (1986) and "God's Own Medicine" (1989), the band went through periods of hiatus and lineup changes. In 2007 they reunited for a world tour, proving that their dark allure continues to resonate with fans.
