Marvin Gaye, born Marvin Pentz Gay Jr. (Washington D.C., April 2, 1939 – Los Angeles, April 1, 1984), was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and arranger widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in soul and R and B music. He began his career as a gospel singer in the 1950s before joining Motown Records in 1961. With his smooth and melodic vocals, Gaye's songs often explored themes of love, war, social justice, and personal struggles, resonating with audiences worldwide. Among his most celebrated hits are "Let's Get It On", "Sexual Healing", "What's Going On", and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". The latter, a duet with Tammi Terrell, became an anthem of hope and unity. Gaye received numerous accolades, including six Grammy Awards, and his album "What's Going On" is considered a masterpiece of soul music. His life was marked by personal turmoil and addiction issues, culminating in the tragic murder of his father by Marvin himself in 1984.

Do we want to define "I know you know me" a masterpiece? Yes, without a shadow of a doubt for at least two reasons. The first and most evident are the artists who interpret it: Caroline Spence and Matt Berninger, second for the deep and poetic text.
My favorite group when I was just a teenager were the Fugees, thanks to them a certain curiosity about english language was born in me. I wanted to know and understand the lyrics of their songs, it wasn't enough for me to be carried away exclusively by their beautiful music.
