Anselmo Genovese (born 1947) is an Italian singer-songwriter, a prominent figure in the Italian songwriting scene of the 1970s and 1980s. Born in Palermo, he moved to Rome in the 1960s to pursue music. His musical style is characterized by a strong poetic component, influenced by classic Italian songwriting and Sicilian folk tradition. Genovese has collaborated with important artists in the Italian music scene, including Fabrizio De André and Francesco Guccini. Among his most representative songs are "My Friend", "The House of Cards" and "The Man Who Doesn't Exist". His music was often accompanied by complex orchestral arrangements, which gave his pieces a melancholic and reflective atmosphere. Genovese has released numerous albums, including "Anselmo Genovese" (1974), "The House of Cards" (1976) and "The Man Who Doesn't Exist" (1980).
