Drafi Deutscher (born Richard Franz Deutscher on March 19, 1936 in Budapest, Hungary – died July 20, 1987 in Munich, Germany) was a German singer, songwriter and record producer. Of probable Hungarian, Romani and Sinti origin, he dedicated his career to the music genre known in Germany as "Schlager", from the early 1960s until his death. Deutscher achieved international success with the song "Margherita" (1967), which became a classic of the Schlager genre. Other successful songs include "Einmal im Leben" (1968) and "Ich bin verliebt in dich" (1970). Deutscher collaborated with numerous German artists, including Rex Gildo and Caterina Valente. His music is characterized by catchy melodies, romantic lyrics and a festive atmosphere.
