Maxïmo Park are a British indie rock band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 2000. The group consists of Paul 'Maximum' Smith (vocals), Duncan Lloyd (guitar), Archis Tikoo (bass) and Tom English (drums). Their music is characterized by catchy melodies, intelligent lyrics and an energetic sound that blends elements of post-punk, new wave and indie pop. Their debut album, *A State of Mind*, released in 2005, was a huge success in the UK, reaching number 3 on the charts.
