Thomas "Fats" Waller (1904-1943) was a legendary American musician, considered one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time. Born in New York to an African American family, Waller began playing the piano at the age of five and distinguished himself for his virtuosic technique and brilliant improvisation. Besides the piano, Waller was a skilled composer and singer, with a deep and characteristic voice. His songs, often accompanied by original jazz arrangements, quickly became popular in the United States and Europe. Among his most famous pieces are "Ain't Misbehavin'", "Honeysuckle Rose" and "Keepin' Out of Mischief Now". Waller collaborated with numerous prominent jazz artists, including Louis Armstrong and Benny Goodman.
