Mississippi John Hurt, nato John Smith Hurt (Mississippi, 8 marzo o 2 luglio 1892 – New York, 2 aprile 1966), è stato un cantante e chitarrista statunitense di musica folk blues. La sua carriera musicale iniziò negli anni '20 con l'esibizione in locali del Mississippi. Nel 1928 registrò i suoi primi dischi per la Paramount Records, ottenendo un successo immediato grazie al suo stile unico che mescolava il blues tradizionale con elementi di musica popolare e country.
