Tame Impala is the musical project of Australian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Kevin Parker. Born in Perth in 1986, Parker began his musical career in the early 2000s with the idea of creating a contemporary psychedelic sound that drew inspiration from music of the 1960s and 1970s. The name "Tame Impala" comes from an imaginary animal, a hybrid between a kangaroo and a hippopotamus, which Parker invented during his childhood. The project's debut album, *Innerspeaker*, was released in 2010 and was met with critical acclaim. The album introduced the public to Tame Impala's distinctive sound: a blend of psychedelia, alternative rock and synth-pop, characterized by melodic riffs, complex arrangements and introspective lyrics.
