Pavement is an American indie rock band formed in Stockton, California, in 1989. Considered one of the most influential bands of the 1990s indie rock movement, Pavement gained a large fanbase thanks to their sound characterized by melodic riffs, ironic and experimental lyrics, and a relaxed and carefree atmosphere. The group consists of Stephen Malkmus (vocals, guitar), Scott Kannberg (guitar), Mark Ibold (bass), Bob Nastanovich (percussion) and Gary Young (drums). Among their most important albums are "Slanted and Enchanted" (1992), considered a classic of the indie rock genre, and "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" (1994), which consolidated the band's success.
