Capercaillie è un gruppo folk scozzese formatosi negli anni '80 da Donald Shaw e con Karen Matheson come voce principale. Il gruppo proviene dall'Argyll, una regione dell'ovest della Scozia, ed prende il nome dal gallo cedrone (Tetrao urogallus), uccello presente solo in Scozia nelle Isole Britanniche. Capercaillie è noto per la sua musica tradizionale scozzese reinterpretata con influenze moderne e sperimentali. Il loro sound caratteristico combina melodie tradizionali, arrangiamenti orchestrali e la potente voce di Matheson.
