Federico Mecozzi nasce a Rimini nel 1992. La predisposizione e l'approccio con la musica sono precoci: all'età di sei anni inizia a suonare la chitarra, di cui si serve fin da subito per scrivere canzoni. Partecipa giovanissimo ad alcuni prestigiosi concorsi cantautoriali, ottenendo notevoli risultati. A 12 anni intraprende il percorso accademico presso l'Istituto Musicale "G. Lettimi" di Rimini, dove studia violino sotto la guida del M° Domenico Colaci e, pochi anni dopo, intraprende gli studi di direzione d'orchestra guidato dal M° Gianluca Gardini; partecipa in seguito a corsi di perfezionamento nell'ambito della direzione sotto la guida del M° Piero Bellugi. Oltre all'intensa attività concertistica, si dedica da anni alla composizione e all'arrangiamento nell'ambito della musica leggera (pop), classica contemporanea e minimalista. Interpreta, inoltre, musica celtica e folklorica (della tradizione bretone, irlandese e scozzese). Polistrumentista, a partire dal 2009 collabora stabilmente con il celebre compositore e pianista Ludovico Einaudi, che affianca tuttora dal vivo in lunghe tournée nei più prestigiosi teatri e arene del mondo oltre che nella realizzazione dei dischi come musicista e assistente musicale. In studio di registrazione ha lavorato anche con e per Pacifico, Angelo Branduardi, Blonde Redhead, Remo Anzovino, Filippo Graziani, Andrea Mingardi. Negli ultimi due anni, ha parallelamente lavorato a "Awakening", il suo primo album da solista (come violinista, compositore, polistrumentista), disponibile dal 25 gennaio 2019. Inoltre, è stato il più giovane direttore d'orchestra del Festival di Sanremo 2019 e uno dei più giovani di tutti i tempi. Ha diretto sul palco dell'Ariston l'orchestra di Sanremo nell'esecuzione del brano "Nonno Hollywood", del cantautore Enrico Nigiotti, in gara fra i big dopo il successo a X Factor.
