Gimbo is the stage name of Giampietro Pica, a Roman musician who dedicates himself to a solo project focused on original sounds inspired by his personal musical research around the world. Giampietro, already known as Jump in the music scene, is a guitarist, songwriter and composer with a long collaborative experience that began in 1997. He has founded several projects including Terradunione (album T.U. for Warner Music Italy and single "Scorre il tempo" in "Sonica the best of", Universal), Acoustic Impact (single "No Nuke Riddim", Bizzarri Records, and collaborations with Ginko and Raphael for the singles "Non mi fido" and "Golden Bars", both on Bizzarri Records) and Seal'd in Vain (album "Seal'd in Vain", Redgoldgreen Label, with the singles "Too many rivers" and "Passo al Passo" included in the compilations Urbanology and Hitmania by Grande Onda). He has collaborated with le Radici nel Cemento on the album "Fuego y corazon", singing in the tracks "Turbolenze" and "Rootsman". Gimbo has performed at Italian and international festivals (Rototom Sunsplash, Sziget Festival) sharing the stage with artists like Tricky, Lee Scratch Perry, Max Romeo, Freddie McGregor, Alborosie, Sizzla, Ward 21, Dub Inc., Raiz, Almamegretta, James Senese, Radici nel Cemento, Sud Sound System, Baracca Sound, Brusco, The Reggae Circus, The BlueBeaters, Africa Unite, Roy Paci and Aretuska, Villa Ada Posse, Bandabardò, 99 Posse. The name Gimbo recalls his roots (as they called him as a child) and famous artists with the same name (Gilberto Gil, Jim Morrison), reflecting his music that transcends genres, influenced by reggae, Caribbean music, afro, American folk, etc. In his first album "Come l'uomo della luna" (February 2021) he collaborates with Javier Girotto, Fabrizio Bosso and other artists. Gimbo plays acoustic and electric guitars, banjo, charango, guitarlele and cavaquinho.
