
Gimbo è il nome d'arte di Giampietro Pica, musicista romano che si dedica a un progetto solista incentrato su sonorità originali ispirate alla sua personale ricerca musicale globale. Giampietro, già noto come Jump nella scena musicale, è chitarrista, autore e compositore con una lunga esperienza collaborativa iniziata nel 1997. Ha fondato diversi progetti tra cui Terradunione (disco T.U. per Warner Music Italy e singolo "Scorre il tempo" in "Sonica the best of", Universal), Acoustic Impact (singolo "No Nuke Riddim", Bizzarri Records, e collaborazioni con Ginko e Raphael per i singoli "Non mi fido" e "Golden Bars", entrambi su Bizzarri Records) e Seal'd in Vain (disco "Seal'd in Vain", Redgoldgreen Label, con i singoli "Too many rivers" e "Passo al Passo" inclusi nelle compilation Urbanology e Hitmania di Grande Onda). Ha collaborato con le Radici nel Cemento nell'album "Fuego y corazon", cantando nei brani "Turbolenze" e "Rootsman". Gimbo si è esibito in festival italiani ed internazionali (Rototom Sunsplash, Sziget Festival) condividendo il palco con artisti come Tricky, Lee Scratch Perry, Max Romeo, Freddie McGregor, Alborosie, Sizzla, Ward 21, Dub Inc., Raiz, Almamegretta, James Senese, Radici nel Cemento, Sud Sound System, Baracca Sound, Brusco, The Reggae Circus, The BlueBeaters, Africa Unite, Roy Paci and Aretuska, Villa Ada Posse, Bandabardò, 99 Posse. Il nome Gimbo richiama le sue radici (come lo chiamavano da bambino) e artisti famosi con lo stesso soprannome (Gilberto Gil, Jim Morrison), riflettendo la sua musica che trascende i generi musicali, influenzata dal reggae, dalla musica caraibica, dall'afro, dal folk americano, etc. Nel suo primo album "Come l'uomo della luna" (febbraio 2021) collabora con Javier Girotto, Fabrizio Bosso e altri artisti. Gimbo suona chitarre acustiche ed elettriche, banjo, charango, guitarlele e cavaquinho.
