Little Eva, stage name of Eva Narcissus Boyd (1938-2003), was an American singer best known for her 1962 hit "The Loco-Motion". Born in New York to African-American parents, she began her career as a dancer and actress. In 1962, while working as a waitress in a Brooklyn restaurant, she met Carole King and Gerry Goffin, who offered her to record a song. "The Loco-Motion", written by King and Goffin, became an international success, topping the American and British charts. The song was later covered by numerous artists, including Kylie Minogue and Grandmaster Flash. After her initial success, Little Eva released other singles, but she failed to replicate the success of "The Loco-Motion". She retired from music in the 1970s to focus on her family. In 2003, she died from breast cancer.
