Michael Stipe, nato John Michael Stipe il 2 marzo 1960 a Decatur, Georgia, è un cantautore, artista e fotografo statunitense. Noto per la sua voce eterea e i testi poetici, è considerato uno degli artisti più influenti della musica alternativa americana. Stipe è stato il frontman dei R.E.M., una delle band rock più importanti degli anni '80 e '90, fino al loro scioglimento nel 2011. Ha scritto la maggior parte dei testi del gruppo, spesso caratterizzati da immagini surreali e metafore profonde che esplorano temi come l'identità, la politica e la spiritualità.
