Phil Spector, born Harvey Philip Spector (1939-2021), was an American record producer, songwriter, singer, and entrepreneur considered one of the most influential and revolutionary figures in music history. Born in New York to Jewish parents, he began his musical career as a session musician in the 1950s, collaborating with artists like The Teddy Bears. In 1961, he founded Philles Records, a record label that became famous for its distinctive sound, dubbed "Wall of Sound". This innovative style involved the use of a large orchestra and male and female choirs, creating a dense and powerful sonic effect. Under his guidance, artists like The Ronettes, The Crystals, and Righteous Brothers achieved international success with iconic songs such as "Be My Baby", "He's a Rebel", and "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'". Spector was a controversial figure, known for his explosive temper and his tendency to exert complete control over his productions. Throughout the 1970s, his musical activities declined due to legal and personal problems. In 2009, he was sentenced to life in prison for the voluntary manslaughter of model Lana Clarkson.
