The Dissociatives sono un gruppo musicale australiano formatosi nel 2004. Il nucleo del progetto è costituito da Daniel Johns, frontman dei Silverchair, e dal produttore dance Paul Mac. A completare la formazione ci sono Julian Hamilton e Kim Moyes, membri del duo elettronico The Presets. Il loro debutto discografico avviene con l'omonimo album "The Dissociatives", pubblicato il 4 aprile 2004. Il primo singolo estratto, "Somewhere Down the Barrel", entra immediatamente nelle classifiche australiane, raggiungendo la posizione numero 8 nella sua prima settimana e diventando uno dei brani più ascoltati in Australia durante quel mese.
