Il Quarto Stato è una band milanese formatasi nel 2009 a Melegnano (Milano). I fondatori sono il cantante/bassista Francesco Dolcemascolo ed il batterista Paolo Bernazzani, già compagni in varie cover band. Decidono di avviare un nuovo progetto basato su musica propria, sperimentando diversi generi musicali prima di trovare la loro identità. Alessia Spagnuolo entra a far parte del gruppo apportando un ritmo sporco e veloce che, unito alla potenza ritmica di Paolo, definisce il sound ideale per i testi che esprimono l'incomunicabilità della nostra epoca e l'alienazione dell'individuo. La band esordisce dal vivo in concorsi locali e come supporto agli Overflow, alternando inediti a classici del rock. La decisione di proporre solo pezzi propri arriva dopo aver notato la maggiore energia e passione trasmesse negli inediti rispetto alle cover. In pochi mesi nascono 14 tracce veloci e distorte che riflettono le sfaccettature e le difficoltà dell'individuo moderno. Testi come 'Conversazione sulla guerra', 'Tu che non c'eri' e 'Un attimo prima un'epoca dopo' affrontano temi come le conseguenze della guerra, la dipendenza da sostanze stupefacenti e la rottura di una relazione. Il Quarto Stato si esibisce in locali come Casa della Musica a Milano, Tropicana e TNT Club, perfezionando la propria attitudine ai live. Il loro repertorio completo li porta a suonare anche in festival come Yeesweeknd e in centri sociali come Cantiere ed Eterotopia. La band continua ad alternar date live con sessioni in studio per registrare il materiale creato. Il cambio di nome da Eversion a Il Quarto Stato, avvenuto all'inizio del 2013, rappresenta un'assunzione di responsabilità: la band vuole amplificare la voce di chi non ha possibilità.
