John Benson Sebastian Jr. (born March 17, 1944) is an American singer-songwriter, harmonica player, and guitarist. He is best known as the leader of the folk-rock band The Lovin' Spoonful, active in the 1960s and 1970s. Sebastian wrote some of the band's most popular hits, such as «Do You Believe in Magic», «Summer in the City», and «Daydream». His musical style is characterized by catchy melodies, witty lyrics, and a creative use of the harmonica. The Lovin' Spoonful was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. Sebastian continued to record music as a solo artist after the band disbanded, releasing albums such as «John Sebastian» (1972) and «Tarzana» (1976). He has also collaborated with other artists, including Bob Dylan and Ringo Starr. Among his most representative songs are: «Welcome Back», soundtrack of the 1974 film of the same name, and «Younger Girl».
