Saturnino Manfredi, known as Nino Manfredi (Naples, March 22, 1921 – Rome, June 4, 2004), was an Italian actor, director, screenwriter and singer. Considered one of the greatest actors in Italian cinema, Manfredi played a wide range of characters, from comic to dramatic, with great talent and sensitivity. His career developed mainly in theater and film, but he also worked in television and as a singer. Manfredi debuted in the entertainment world in the 1940s, participating in Neapolitan theatrical companies. In 1952 he acted in his first film, "The Bandit of Massa Marittima". During the 1960s and 1970s, he became one of the most popular faces of Italian cinema thanks to films like "Big Deal on Madonna Street", "Amici miei" and "Life is Beautiful". Besides acting, Manfredi directed some films, including "The Big Heist" (1967) and "Commissioner Pepe" (1980). He also wrote screenplays for several films and recorded some musical albums. Manfredi was awarded numerous awards and recognitions, including the David di Donatello for best actor in 1976 for "The Mattei Affair". Some of his most representative songs are: "The Song of the Sun", "Azure" and "I Love You".
