Dark Tranquillity is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in Gothenburg in 1989. The founding members are vocalist Anders Friden, guitarists Niklas Sundin and Mikael Stanne, bassist Martin Henriksson and drummer Anders Jivarp. Initially the band was called Septic Broiler, but changed their name to Dark Tranquillity in 1990.
