Violent Femmes are an American alternative rock/country punk band formed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1980. Composed of Gordon Gano (vocals, guitar), Brian Ritchie (bass, percussion) and Victor DeLorenzo (drums), they achieved international fame with their unique sound that blends elements of folk, blues, and rockabilly. Their self-titled debut album in 1983 became a underground success, thanks to tracks like "Blister in the Sun" and "Add It Up". Violent Femmes are known for their energetic live performances and Gano's distinctive vocal style and often introspective songwriting. Among their most important albums are also "Hallowed Ground" (1985) and "The Blind Leading the Naked" (1989). Despite several lineup changes over the years, the band continues to record and perform successfully, maintaining a loyal fan base worldwide.
