Son Volt è un gruppo musicale statunitense di genere alternative country, formatosi nel 1994 a Chicago da Jay Farrar, ex membro degli Uncle Tupelo. Dopo lo scioglimento di quest'ultimo, Farrar ha riunito alcuni musicisti per dare vita a Son Volt, che hanno subito riscosso successo con il loro album d'esordio "Trace" (1995).
