Baby don't burn your bridges now,
Remember how you came here yesterday,
Baby don't burn your bridges now,
You're only what you run from anyway.
Baby don't burn
If you find your heart is breakin'
Faster than the love you're makin'
Baby don't burn your bridges now,
Remember how you want it when it's gone
Baby just learn, love ain't long,
Y'gotta get out fast when things go wrong.
Baby don't burn
If you find He can't deliver
Just across a tiny river,
Don't forget the way to get back home.
I was cold last night
I slept inside your empty room,
Thought I heard you,
Heard the sound of the wind,
Play the chimes on your door...
Baby don't burn
You're crazy now, Your dreams forgive ya,
Funny how they're always with ya,
Don't forget the way to get back home...
The Icicle Works were an English alternative rock band active during the 1980s. The band's name derives from the 1960 short story "The Day the Icicle Works Closed" by science fiction author Frederik Pohl. They joined Liverpool's early 1980s 'neo-psychedelia' wave, which also propelled Echo and the Bunnymen and The Teardrop Explodes to stardom. Their sound was characterized by catchy melodies, powerful guitar riffs and introspective lyrics. Their debut album, "The Icicle Works", released in 1980, received positive critical acclaim. Among their most well-known songs are "Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)", "Love Is the Law" and "Great Expectations". The band disbanded in the 1990s but had a significant impact on the British music scene of the 1980s.
