The Damned are a British punk rock band, considered one of the pioneers of the genre. Formed in London in 1976, they released their self-titled debut album in 1977, which included the single "New Rose", considered the first punk rock song released in the UK. The band has gone through several musical phases, experimenting with horror punk, gothic rock and glam rock. Among their most important albums are "Machine Gun Etiquette" (1979) and "Damned Damned Damned" (1980). The Damned have influenced numerous subsequent bands and are still active today, continuing to record and perform live.
