Whitesnake is a British hard rock band formed in London in 1978. Founded by singer David Coverdale, former member of Deep Purple, the band has gone through several stylistic phases. Initially their sound was close to the blues rock of Deep Purple, then evolving towards a more accessible and commercial rock.
