Robert Randolph is an American musician known for his unique style of slide guitar blues infused with elements of funk, rock and gospel. Born in 1975 in Newark, New Jersey, he began playing guitar at the age of seven, influenced by his father's music and his involvement in the Pentecostal church. In 1990, he joined his family band, Robert Randolph and The Family Band, with whom he gained increasing popularity in the 1990s thanks to energetic and innovative performances. Their sound, characterized by tight rhythms, virtuosic guitar riffs and spiritual lyrics, won over critics and audiences alike, leading them to collaborate with artists such as John Mayer, The Black Crowes and Carlos Santana.
