Bo Diddley, born Ellas Otha Bates McDaniel (1928-2008), was an American singer, guitarist, and songwriter considered a pivotal figure in the birth of rock and roll. Born in Mississippi, Bo Diddley moved to Chicago in the 1950s, where he began playing in blues clubs. His musical style was characterized by energetic rhythms, distinctive guitar riffs, and often ironic and provocative lyrics. His success came in 1955 with the single "Bo Diddley", which became a rock and roll anthem. Among his most famous songs are also "I'm a Man", "Who Do You Love?" and "Mona."
