In the London rain the sun called "go west",
The American loves the way you speak English
And they watched you growing as their son for so long
How they long to embrace you, tell you, `This is home'
Beloved foreigner this your America
Wants you to stay forever
Beloved foreigner this your America
Wants you to stay forever
As you look down on the New York skyline
There's someone waiting for you among the crowd
He wants to be just like you, he wants to be a friend to you,
Reach inside, and just be part of you
He saved the photographs, he read the magazines
Making you part of the city
Beloved foreigner someone to crucify
Breaking the heart of the city
In the London rain the sun called "Go West"
The Americans love to hear you speak EnglishHe took your autograph
Spit out the magazine
Alcatrazz is an American hard rock band formed in 1983 by Graham Bonnet (vocals), Jimmy Waldo (keyboards) and Gary Shea (guitar). The name of the band derives from a nickname given to a Spanish pirate crew. Following Bonnet's success with Rainbow, the lineup underwent several changes over the years, but always remained faithful to the powerful and melodic hard rock sound characterized by incisive guitar riffs and Bonnet's soaring vocals. Among the most representative tracks are "Island in the Sun", "Since You've Been Gone" and "All Night Long". The self-titled debut album was a commercial success in 1983. Alcatrazz contributed to defining the hard rock sound of the 1980s with its contagious energy and the technical skill of the musicians.
