Iced Earth is an American heavy metal band formed in 1984. Founded by guitarist and composer Jon Schaffer, the group has gone through several lineup changes over the years, but the current lineup includes Schaffer himself alongside Tim "Ripper" Owens (vocals), Troy Seele (guitar), Dennis Hayes (bass) and Brent Smedley (drums). Iced Earth is known for a powerful and melodic sound, influenced by thrash metal, power metal and classical music. Among their most representative songs are "The Reckoning", "Angels of Death" and "Dante's Inferno". Their debut album, "Night of the Storm Bringer" (1988), marked the beginning of a prolific career that has seen the band release over ten studio albums. Iced Earth is considered one of the most influential bands in the American heavy metal genre.
