Carlos Alberto Vives Restrepo, nato a Santa Marta, Colombia, il 3 agosto 1957, è un cantautore, chitarrista, pianista e attore colombiano. Considerato uno dei più importanti artisti della musica latinoamericana contemporanea, Vives ha saputo coniugare tradizioni musicali colombiane come la cumbia e il vallenato con influenze pop e rock. La sua carriera musicale è iniziata negli anni '80 con l'esibizione in gruppi di musica popolare colombiana. Nel 1986 ha debuttato come solista con l'album "Cumbia y Son", che lo ha lanciato sulla scena nazionale.
